Ang Lee's "Lust, Caution" was granted the Golden Lion for Best Film while the Volpi Cups went to Hollywood thesps Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.

AceShowbiz - Ending the celebration of the 64th edition of Venice Film Festival on September 8, 2007, organizers of the prestigious event finally came to the announcement of the honorees for the festival's principal awards on a ceremony held that day in the Palazzo del Cinema.

Big surprise marked the occasion as sexually explicit spy thriller "Lust, Caution" was bestowed top prize the Golden Lion for Best Film, which was handed to director Ang Lee, who took the same kudos two years ago through his "Brokeback Mountain."

Pic's strong competitors, "La Graine et le Mulet" ("The Secret of the Grain") and "I'm Not There" both came as the runner-ups with their respective helmers Abdellatif Kechiche and Todd Haynes receiving the Special Jury Prizes. Meanwhile, fellow filmmaker Brian De Palma triumphantly brought home the Silver Lion for Best Director for his bold effort in docudrama "Redacted."

Coming out as the recipients of the Volpi Cups were two Hollywood's household names of Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. Deemed the Best Actor, Pitt nabbed one through his performance in "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" while Blanchett landed the other as Best Actress for hers in Haynes' "I'm Not There." Complete list of winners can be viewed online at the festival's official site of Labiennale.org.
