Justin Timberlake had one statuette already in hand for 'Quadruple Threat Awards' when he was also announced to be Male Artist of the Year, alongside Fergie in the female category.

AceShowbiz - Rihanna, Beyonce Knowles and Justin Timberlake are the early names to win at 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. Monster Single of the Year, promptly goes to Rihanna's 'Umbrella' while Earth Shattering Collaboration aims for sexiness by picking Beyonce's duet with Shakira in 'Beautiful Liar'.
Justin who jumped at being called the winner of 'Quadruple Threat' said on the acceptance speech, "I want to challenge MTV right now to play more videos." Approximately half an hour later, he was named 'Male Artist of the Year'.
The award giving was then cut with a performance by Justin and 50 Cent on the latter's hit 'Ayo Technology'. Indiana Jones star Shia LaBeouf then took over the mic to announce 'Female Artist of the Year' that eventually goes to Fergie aka Stacy Ferguson. The winner unfortunately was not present to receive the award so Shia took it on behalf of Fergie and descended the stairs.

Unlike previous years, VMAs will not be rebroadcast this year's event on MTV. Instead, the show will be available on MTV.com.
