John Travolta to Be Honored the 2007 Kirk Douglas Award

John Travolta will be presented the second annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on November 15, 2007.

Establishing an acting career that spans over three decades, has been selected as the recipient of special honor from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in recognition of his contributions to the film world, organizers have officially announced.

The prolific actor will be bestowed the second annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the black-tie Gala dinner set to take place at Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara. Presenting the kudos will be himself, three-time Oscar nominee who has been noted to be one of the greatest male American screen legends of all time.

"He is so deserving of this unique award. For the past four decades John Travolta has given us iconic performances, just as Kirk has done in his lifetime," the festival's Director Roger Durling commented.

Travolta, best known for his performances in late '70s musical features "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease", initially began his path in acting field as a stage performer before earning his first major movie role in "Carrie" (1976). He most recently played Edna Turnblad in New Line Cinema release "", which so far has grossed over $112.4 million domestically, becoming the third highest-grossing PG-rated movie of 2007 to date.
