Ashley Judd Takes the Lead in Drama Flick Helen

Ashley Judd has been picked up to topline Egoli Tossell Film and Insight Film Studios' drama feature "Helen."

AceShowbiz - Opts to stick to dramatic genre after her latest acting stint in the upcoming "Crossing Over", Ashley Judd has inked deals to become the female lead in "Helen", a drama produced by Egoli Tossell Film and Insight Film Studios, Variety has revealed.

The beauty likely replaces fellow actress Gillian Anderson in the project as the official site for "The X Files" star has informed that she is "no longer attached" to the flick because of "a conflict in schedules."

Meanwhile, pic's story concerns a music professor also mother who suffers from a deep, debilitating depression. While her family makes attempts to help her, no one actually can relate to her pain other than a young female student who knows depression all too well.

Production is slated to start October 2 this year in Vancouver, Canada under the direction of Sandra Nettelbeck who is set to carry out the duties based on her own script. Taking care of producing matters are Doug Mankoff, Jens Meurer, and Judy Tossell with Pam Dixon serving as the casting director.
