First Live Album in Two Decades for R.E.M.

R.E.M. compiled 22 of their best tracks plus some rarities that the band seldom perform live in a double CD/DVD.

AceShowbiz - Expect the unexpected, R.E.M. finally gives their live album a go. After more than 2 decades running in the music industry, the band compile as many as 22 tracks in a double CD/DVD album for the first time.

The album set comprised of footage taken from a concert at Dublin'sThe Point Venue on February 27, 2005. The album will not only contain many of their greatest hits but also rarities like 'I'm Gonna DJ' that went unreleased and will be included in their 2008 album.

There's also the old piece '(Don't Go Back to) Rockville' that dated back to 1984 and featured the vocal of Mike Mills. Six songs are taken from 2004's album 'Around the Sun' including 'Ascent of Man' that is rarely performed live.

The live album which is directed by Blue Leach (Depeche Mode, Snow Patrol) will be dropped October 16. Meanwhile, progress keeps coming on the work of the band's new studio album. A number of fresh tracks were played during recent shows in Dublin.
