The studio has pulled "Logan's Run" out of the shelf by hiring commercial director Joseph Kosinski to helm the flick.

AceShowbiz - Long left in development hell, "Logan's Run" finally gets back to the track as Warner Bros. Pictures now has a new helmer to handle the project in commercial director Joseph Kosinski, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.

For Kosinski, the sci-fi thriller thereby will be his feature directorial debut which he is poised to carry out from the script penned by Tim Sexton. The man reportedly came into Warner Bros. with a presentation that included graphic art and animated previsualization that set the look, color, tone and style of the film he wanted to make.

A remake of the 1976 movie of the same name based on William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson's 1967 novel, "Logan's Run" is expected to be low-tech science fiction in a futuristic setting and hew closer to the book rather than the original picture. This new version is also said to tackle idea of the "greater good" and people devoting themselves to an ideology blindly, while keeping the novel's concepts of runners, Sanctuary and gangs outside the system.
