Pete Doherty was released from custody on a legal technicality Tuesday August 21st after being charged with breaching his bail conditions in relation to previous drugs charges.

AceShowbiz - It's just "too little too late." Pete Doherty walked free from court on Tuesday August 21st after prosecutors abandoned their case against him for breaching his bail conditions in relation to previous drugs charges which could result on his being banned from living in London.

The Babyshambles rocker was arrested at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Monday August 20th on suspicion of drugs possession after the car he was riding in was pulled over by London authorities in the city's Tower Hamlets district.

Lucky for him that the charge was later on dropped after authorities failed to get him to West London Magistrates Court within 24 hours. "The case has been dropped on a legal technicality: no conviction has been recorded," prosecutor Anjulika Vatish said in a statement. "Mr Doherty was arrested on 20 August at 2:35 a.m. and so the court has no jurisdiction to deal with this matter any more."

Pete was pleaded guilty to possessing crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis and ketamine back in July. He was warned by a magistrate earlier this month he faced a prison sentence if he failed to demonstrate he was trying to kick his drugs habit.
