The Cure's 13th Album Postponed to 2008

The Cure's highly-anticipated new album is being delayed for the second time because some materials are still worked on.

AceShowbiz - Still with uncertain release date, The Cure's 13th studio album is being postponed again to next spring, announced the band's label Geffen. The album that is planned to be a double pack is reported unfinished.

"The album got pushed to 2008, more like an April/May release. Robert is still recording," a spokeswoman from Geffen said on Thursday (August 9) in reference to frontman Robert Smith. The follow up to 2004's self-titled album was initially slated for this May but was postponed to October, presumably because Robert had difficulty in writing the lyrics, as he stated last year.

The band is recognized for their bold lyrics, discussing material world, relationship, religion and politic. For this one Robert said, "They're very upfront and dynamic. People will be surprised how stripped-down and in-your-face the record is."

Due to numerous materials that are hard to 'cut' and some old songs that deserve the attention, Robert planned to release them in a double CD but for a price of one. The band has toured extensively in several countries and will hit U.S. road this September. View the tour schedule below.

On the tour booklets, the title of the album has been suggested to be '4:13'. It is believed that the meaning to the hour is the fact that they are back as a quartet after guitarist Porl Thompson who left the lots in 1993 re-joined in 1995. The minutes, is unquestionably because it's their 13th album.
