Renee Zellweger Lands Role in Appaloosa
Movie

Oscar winner Renee Zellweger has been added into the cast list of Western drama "Appaloosa."

AceShowbiz - Lending hands to construct a strong cast lineup for the project, Renee Zellweger has signed on to join both Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen in Western drama "Appaloosa" which Harris is set to direct from the script he wrote alongside Robert Knott.

Adapted from Robert B. Parker's novel of the same name, pic concerns a pair of friends who get hired to protect a lawless town suffering at the hands of a renegade rancher, but the arrival of an attractive widow disrupts their plans to attain the goal.

While Zellweger is likely to be cast as the widow, it is still unclear whether she takes over the role Diane Lane was previously attached to. Back in September last year, Lane reportedly got picked up by Harris to star in the movie yet no updates have been made about her involvement in it since.

Meanwhile, production on the movie is due to begin October 1 this year in New Mexico with Harris and Knott also producing, accompanied by Michael London who handles the duties via his Groundswell Productions. On board to distribute is New Line Cinema, which is slated to release action comedy "Rush Hour 3" this Friday, August 10.
