D'oh! The Simpsons Rules Box Office
Movie

"The Simpsons Movie" replaces "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" as the No.1 picture on the weekend North American box office of July 27-29, 2007.

AceShowbiz - A loud "Woo Hoo!" sure can be heard from filmmakers of "The Simpsons Movie" by now as Homer and his lovable, if dysfunctional, family members effortlessly reach their goal in entertaining most moviegoers to bring their vehicle to the top spot of the weekend domestic box office ended July 29, 2007.

Forcing last week's champ "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" to go down one step below, the big screen version of the long-running popular animated TV show amazingly scores a fantastic $74 million, over three times larger than the $19.1 million the Universal Pictures comedy has collected in its second spin on the chart.

Also pushed to go one rank lower are "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" and "Hairspray" for respective tally of $17.7 million and $15.9 million followed by newcomer "No Reservations" which makes quite an impressive debut by raking in $11.7 million to round out the top five of the list.

On the sixth slot, there comes Robot movie "Transformers" after its decent effort to add another $11.6 million into its feedbag to raise total gross of $284.6 million with Disney/Pixar's "Ratatouille" trailing behind, thanks to its still-sizeable income of $7.5 million. Listed next up to number ten are action flick "Live Free or Die Hard" with $5.6 million, another newcomer "I Know Who Killed Me" with $3.5 million, and fellow rookie "Who's Your Caddy?" with $2.8 million.
