A sequel to 2006's "Step Up" is being made with Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman toplining and Jon Chu helming for Touchstone Pictures and Summit Entertainment.

AceShowbiz - Intends to repeat the success "Step Up" brought in last year, Touchstone Pictures and Summit Entertainment are now collaborating once again to develop a follow-up to the dance flick with Palo Alto-born filmmaker Jon Chu at helm.

Entitled "Step Up 2 the Streets", pic is set at the Maryland School of the Arts and centers on a dance student named Patrick and rebellious new student Andie. Cast includes Briana Evigan, Robert Hoffman, Telisha Shaw, and Adam G. Sevani along with singer-model-actress Cassie, who will sing a song featured in the film and on the soundtrack.

Principal photography begins this month in Baltimore with Patrick Wachsberger, Erik Feig, Adam Shankman, and Jennifer Gibgot all serving as producers again. Set to executive produce are Meredith Milton, David Nicksay, and Anne Fletcher while Jamal Sims is returning to choreograph, joined by Hi-Hat and Dave Scott.

In the meantime, Touchstone, in its concern on the project, is providing opportunity for aspiring singers and dancers to take part in the film by winning a MySpace talent competition for the movie. Those interested are requested to upload audition tapes to the film's MySpace page. A group of finalists will then be picked up for MySpace users to vote the winners. Chosen dancers are expected to appear in the flick either solo or together with their dance crew while the singer will record a track for the movie's official soundtrack.
