Westlife Reignites Chart Battle with Spice Girls

Westlife is reportedly adjusting the release date of their new album to coincide with Spice Girls' reunion album.

AceShowbiz - Regarded as one of best selling artists in late '90s, Westlife is confident that they can compete with Spice Girls' huge comeback. The Irish boyband will release their next album on the same week the reunited British band drop theirs.

Unlike Spice Girls' newly-worked record, Westlife's album has been baked in the studio for sometime and may actually be ready before the end of this year. However, now that the girls have announced their reunion, the management thinks it would be great to reignite the chart battle.

A source told People, They've pencilled in a release date for later this year but will move it depending on what the girls do. They think it will be a good marketing ploy to recreate the great battle of 2000 and are sure they will get the Number One spot."

Both bands' album names and release dates are still relatively unknown.

Westlifes "Coast to Coast [Limited Edition]" album was released on November 6, 2000, the same day Spice Girls' "Forever" hit the stores. The former's record peaked at #1 while the latter had to be satisfied with the runner-up position. The chart battle was widely reported by the media.
