Kate Winslet Urged to Stand Down as Spokesmodel for

Kate Winslet is being urged by race discrimination groups in her homeland to stand down as spokesmodel for cosmetics giant L'Oreal who was found guilty of racism in a French court.

AceShowbiz - L'Oreal is racist, at least that's according to the court, and thus the race discrimination groups in Kate Winslet's home town want the actress to distance herself from the company. She's being urged to stand down as spokesmodel for the cosmetics giant.

L'Oreal, the world's largest cosmetics and beauty company, was found guilty of racism in a French court and was ordered to pay a EU30,000 fine for recruitment practices that excluded non-white women from promoting its Garnier shampoo "Frutis Style".

Due to such fact, Winslet and fellow Brit Clive Owen, who both front ad campaigns for L'Oreal, have been urged to take a "moral stand" by quitting to work with the company.

"We would ask those high-profile ambassadors to think carefully about whether or not they want to be associated with this organization," a spokesperson for the Commission for Racial Equality said in a statement, adding "What a wonderful opportunity this could be to stand up to racism, to show that it simply has no place in today's society."

While L'Oreal is reported as saying the decision was "incomprehensible," no comment just yet from Winslet and Owen.
