Sean Penn and Iggy Pop are lending their voices to the English-language version of animated feature "Persepolis."

AceShowbiz - Ready to give major contribution for the flick, Sean Penn and Iggy Pop have both enlisted themselves in the voice cast of the English-language version of "Persepolis", Sony Picture Classics' animated feature adapted from the Marjane Satrapi autobiographical, bestselling graphic novel.
Joining the already-announced Gena Rowlands and Catherine Deneuve also Deneuve's daughter Chiara Mastroianni who is set to reprise her part in voicing the lead character of Satrapi, Penn reportedly will fill in the voice of Satrapi's long-suffering father while Pop that of the young girl's rebellious and politically active uncle.
"I think it's very good that these two actors have accepted. It will give the film another boost," so said Hengameh Panahi, the exec of Celluloid Dreams, the company handling the international sales of the picture.
Work on the English-version dub is slated to begin this summer for a fall release in the U.S. with Marc-Antoine Robert and Xavier Rigault of 2.4.7. Film producing and Kathleen Kennedy executive producing. The version is expected to get ready in time for its premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival held in September.
