Wes Anderson's comedy "The Darjeeling Limited" will be the opening feature for the 45th New York Film Festival held on September 28-October 14 this year.

AceShowbiz - Picking up a comedy feature to mark the event's forty-fifth celebration, organizers of this year's New York Film Festival have cast their choice on Wes Anderson-directed flick "The Darjeeling Limited" as the opening movie for the occasion held on September 28.
"It represents a big step for Wes," the festival program director Richard Pena remarked. "I hate to use the word 'matured,' but the humor and whimsy he uses is sharper, better focused and used more effectively."
Along with the movie, the organizers also announced that the Coen Brothers' drama "No Country for Old Men" would be screened in the Centerpiece section with Cannes winners "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days" and "Secret Sunshine" also being featured in. Complete lineup reportedly will be revealed this August.
A collaborative production of American Empirical Pictures, Cine Mosaic, and Scott Rudin Productions, "Darjeeling" revolves around three brothers who attempt to reconnect with one another on a journey through India. Pic will be distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures which is set to launch it in New York one day after its festival premiere.
