Oscar winners Jennifer Hudson and Forest Whitaker gained respective title of Best Actress and Best Actor at the 7th annual BET Awards held Tuesday, June 26, 2007.

AceShowbiz - Honoring the dedication shown by the African Americans and other minorities in the entertainment industry, the Black Entertainment Television network proudly named winners for its BET Awards as it celebrated the event for the seventh time Tuesday, June 26 at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium.

For the acting categories, the network finally selected Jennifer Hudson as the Best Actress and Forest Whitaker the Best Actor. Both previously took home the same titles at this year's Academy Awards, held February 25, Hudson being honored for her role in "Dreamgirls" while Whitaker for "The Last King of Scotland."

Hudson, a native of Chicago, Illinois, first gained notice as one of the finalists on the third season of the FOX's popular reality show "American Idol" before signing on her prized role in November 2005. Whitaker, on the other hand, has been working on his acting career since early 1980s to then earn a reputation for his intensive character study work for films. The two next can be seen starring together in Rowan Woods' crime drama "Winged Creatures", slated for a 2008 release.
