DreamWorks has landed rights to bring P.B. Kerr's fantasy book series "Children of the Lamp" to the big screen.

AceShowbiz - Providing a very promising property for fans of fantasy genre to see in the future, DreamWorks Pictures is on its way to spawn "Children of the Lamp" based on the P.B. Kerr best-selling book series of which feature rights it has smoothly secured, Variety has reported.
The original follows the international adventures of a family of djinn -- or genies -- who pass for human yet possess the power to grant wishes. Kerr already witnessed the first three books in the series sold over one million copies across the globe and is next slated to see the fourth one, "The Day of the Djinn Warrior", hit the book stores in September.
In bringing the material to the big screen, DreamWorks has hired "Billy Elliot" scribe Lee Hall to pen the screenplay while giving the producer's seat to Nina Jacobson, whom it recently team up with to work on sci-fi thriller "Dominion." The latter is no stranger to fantasy genre, having overseen" The Chronicles of Narnia" franchise when becoming Disney executive.
"My kids and I read the first book for fun and fell in love with Phillip Kerr's premise, characters and sense of humor," she said. "We were all so excited when DreamWorks shared our enthusiasm."
