Samuel L. Jackson Bids Another
Movie

Samuel L. Jackson has told MTV that he is developing the follow-up to his 1996 vehicle "The Long Kiss Goodnight."

AceShowbiz - Going for the same step already taken by his fellow actors, Harrison Ford and Bruce Willis, in "Fourth Installment of the Indiana Jones Adventures" and "Live Free or Die Hard" respectively, Samuel L. Jackson is on the move to bring back his "The Long Kiss Goodnight" character Mitch Henessey to the big screen.

The Oscar-nominated actor has openly revealed to MTV that he and director Renny Harlin are working on a sequel to the 1996 action thriller, saying they are currently talking to writers in their effort to develop the project.

"Mitch is one of my favorite characters," he declared. "I mean, every time I pass 'The Long Kiss Goodnight' [on TV], I stop and watch it. If it's on, I stop, I watch it."

However, Jackson did caution that his co-star in the first flick, Geena Davis, would not return as Samantha Caine in the follow-up since this second chapter is going to focus on her character's daughter instead.

"Actually, we're thinking, you know, the little girl [Samantha's daughter, Caitlin] is grown up now and possibly got some skills passed onto her by her mom," so he said, adding that the mother gets killed, which then prompts the girl to investigate the murder by coming to his character, whom she believes to be the only connection to the older woman.

The first "Goodnight", helmed by Harlin for New Line Cinema, centered on an amnesiac suburban housewife who hires wisecracking private investigator Mitch Henessey to help her find the truth about her past. She finally learns that her true identity is an assassin for the CIA named Charly Baltimore and, upon discovering the evil plan her former boss is set, quickly embarks on a mission with Henessey to thwart the plot as well as rescues her kidnapped young daughter, Caitlin.
