DreamWorks' exec Jeffrey Katzenberg told Courier Mail that the studio is working on "Shrek 5" for a 2013 release.

AceShowbiz - Apparently "Shrek 4" is not going to be the closing chapter of the green ogre tale as the story will still continue at least to the fifth installment.

DreamWorks Animation's head Jeffrey Katzenberg, the man behind all released "Shrek" series, has informed Courier Mail that work already is under way on both "Shrek 4" and "Shrek 5", which many of the 1400 artists employed at the studio are busily prepping for.

"The fourth film will come out in 2010 and the fifth in 2013," so he said while adding that each animated film took about four years to complete and DreamWorks had seven or eight in the pipeline now.

Based on the William Steig picture book, "Shrek" series has become one of the most profitable and successful film franchises, the first installment pulling over $484 million worldwide while the second scoring more than $920 million. The third one is currently circulating in theaters and has already garnered $258.5 million in North America only.
