"Bourne" franchise producer Andrew R. Tennenbaum will work on a remake of Hong Kong action comedy "Enter the Phoenix" that Jackie Chan produced back in 2004.

AceShowbiz - Making a different movement in his career, "Bourne" franchise producer Andrew R. Tennenbaum is about to produce "Enter the Phoenix", a remake of the Hong Kong action comedy produced by martial arts superstar Jackie Chan.

The man has obtained rights to the picture from Chan's JCE Movies via his L.A.-based Flashpoint Entertainment and reportedly is looking for writers and a director to handle the project. The original, released in 2004, revolves around the gay son of a boss whose dying wish is that he takes over the family business.

"This is my first Asian film remake and I couldn't be more excited," said Tennenbaum, who is currently in post-production on "The Bourne Ultimatum" for Universal Pictures, slated for an August 3, 2007 release.

Hollywood remakes of Asian movies have become major players in American film industry with such properties as "The Grudge" also "The Ring" drawing large cash and "The Departed", Martin Scorsese's remake of Hong Kong's "Infernal Affairs", taking critical acclaim by winning four Oscars that included best picture and director earlier this year.
