The 6th season of American Idol is coming nearer to the end as LaKisha Jones goes home, leaving three to battle for the "Idol" title.

AceShowbiz - After a couple of weeks delivering a so-so performance, Michigan native LaKisha Jones has to give up hope winning American Idol. Her rendition of Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive" failed to impress the American audience that she got the lowest vote and substantially out of the competition.

Host Ryan Seacrest revealed that even before the announcement, Jones had been "fidgety" during the commercial breaks and heard talking to herself. Jones explained it as a 'feeling of going home' after the judges battered her the night before. Judge Simon Cowell as usual said what he wanted to say, referring her performance as "absolutely terrible". Even Paula Abdul who supposed to be the 'kind one' couldn't help to blurt out that Jones had a lack of power.

Absorbing 45 million votes, the show is down to three with the departure of Jones. Those who will compete against each other are 29-year-old professional backup singer Melinda Doolittle, beatbox signatured Blake Lewis and the youngest contender Jordin Sparks.

The top three will undergo three stages next week whereby each is required to do 3 songs. One song will be left free for them to choose, while the other two will be chosen by the judges and Arista founder Clive Davis.
