George Michael pleaded guilty Tuesday May 8th to a charge of driving while unfit through drugs.

AceShowbiz - This is it. George Michael was on Tuesday May 8th pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while unfit because of drugs and fatigue.

As previously reported Michael was arrested in North London on October 1st last year on suspicion of being unfit to drive and for possession of substance believed to be cannabis. He was later cautioned by police for possession.

The Tuesday trial, which was the first, saw the singer attend, openly confessed to judge, "I did something very stupid and I am very ashamed since doing it. I'm not used to defending myself in a position where I am ashamed of something. I really have been very distressed by this whole thing. I am perfectly aware that I did something very wrong and got into my car when I was unfit to drive."

He went on saying, "I was not in my normal physical state and I'm perfectly prepared to accept the correct punishment for that." Sentencing was deferred until May 30th, pending more blood tests, with George is expected to back in court on May 31st and June 8th.
