"Coyote Ugly" star Piper Perabo will star in Walt Disney Pictures' live-action comedy "South of the Border."

AceShowbiz - Becoming the first major name to join the project, Piper Perabo has given her agreement to take starring part in Walt Disney Pictures' comedy "South of the Border", Variety has revealed.

A live-action movie in which the animals will talk, the flick centers on a pampered Chihuahua named Chloe who gets lost during a vacation in Mexico and has to rely on her friends in order to get back home. Perabo will be billed as the bratty owner of the dog.

Taking helming duties is "Big Momma's House" Raja Gosnell who is set to direct based on script penned by first-time screenwriter AnaLisa LaBianco. David Hoberman, and Todd Lieberman, who are also on duty to produce "The Fighter", will both serve as the producers alongside John Jacobs.

Perabo, widely known for her performance in "Coyote Ugly", is last seen playing the girlfriend of Guy Pearce's Jimmy Starks in "First Snow." Apart from "Border", the beauty is also about to star in romantic thriller "The Heaven Project" opposite Paul Walker under the direction of John Glenn.
