"300" leads the competition with five nominations altogether followed by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" with four nods.

AceShowbiz - The coveted Golden Popcorn trophies once again set to be handed into the rightful ones as MTV has just revealed its list of nominees for this year's MTV Movie Awards, which it will air live for the first time ever from Universal City's Gibson Amphitheatre on June 3.

Picking up titles of various genres for the competition, the network surprisingly gives large portion attention to epic saga "300", granting the Zack Snyder-directed flick a total five nods, notably Best Movie and Best Performance for lead star Gerard Butler.

Trailing close behind with four nominations is last year's mega-hit "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest", which is also vying for both honors, even submitting Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley for the latter category besides leading Bill Nighy to face against Jack Nicholson of "The Departed" and Meryl Streep of "The Devil Wears Prada" for Best Villain title.

Not to be missed out are surely the nominees of Best Kiss and those of Best Fight. Here Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell wonderfully scored in both slots, being a team for the former through "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" while becoming rivals for the latter as Cohen is nominated for "Borat" and Ferrell for "Blades of Glory."

Further to report, the two funnymen also get nominated for Best Comedic Performance, which lines up other well known names like Adam Sandler of "Click", Ben Stiller of "Night at the Museum", and Emily Blunt of "Prada", who also lands a nod in Breakthrough Performance category.

Much to be noticed from the list is the return of mtvU Best Filmmaker On Campus as well as the coming of new slot called Best Summer Movie You Haven't Seen Yet, which includes titles such as "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer", and "Evan Almighty." Complete list of nominees can be viewed via MTV's official site of mtv.com.
