Madonna and Elton John reign the nomination list with two counts each.

AceShowbiz - The "Ivors" that appreciate the craft of songwriters and composers will be given out anytime soon as the list of nominees revealed. In the 52nd cycle, the Ivor Novello Awards is honoring not only the British but also international artists such as Madonna and Scissor Sisters.

Madonna runs for two categories PRS Most Performed Work and International Hit of The Year, thanks to the single "Sorry" that she co-wrote with Stuart Price. The single is competing with Scissor Sisters's hit "I Don't Feel Like Dancing" that is partly written by Sir Elton John in both categories. In the former their singles will be the competitors of Corinne Bailey Rae's "Put Your Records On" and in the latter against Robbie Williams' "Rudebox".

Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys is the contender of Best Song Musically & Lyrically mainly for the song "When the Sun Goes Down". British wonder Amy Winehouse who won the award for debut single "Stronger Than Me" in 2004 is now the runner for the category Best Contemporary Song through the funk-jazz "Rehab". She will face the competition from duo Hot Chip who penned the song "Over & Over" and English DJ Bodyrox who delivered "Yeah Yeah" with pop singer Luciana.

Further announcement is expected for other categories such as Best Selling UK Single, Album Award and the prestigious Songwriter(s) of the Year. The 52nd Ivor Novello Awards will be held May 24 in London. For a more complete list of songs that reign the awards and their writers log on to theivors.com.
