Jennifer Lopez and her husband, Marc Anthony, are suing the US tabloid National Enquirer over drugs claims.

AceShowbiz - This is the second time in within this month that Marc Anthony dealing with the law. The singer-songwriter, who has just agreed to pay $2.5 million in back taxes, interest and penalties, and his wife Jennifer Lopez are suing the National Enquirer in European courts over the tabloid's claims they were linked to a drug scandal.

The publication claims in its March 12 British and Irish editions, Lopez and Anthony were "caught up in a heroin scandal" while at the same time also reprinted a 2004 picture of Anthony standing beside photographer Michael Star, who is facing charges of heroin possession and child pornography in the U.S. To make matter worse, the article too quoted an alleged friend of Star as saying Star and Anthony were friends.

Paul Tweed, the couple's Belfast lawyer said Monday April 16th the lawsuit would be filed Tuesday April 17th in a Belfast court, and in subsequent days in courts in Dublin, London and Paris with Lopez and Anthony are seeking "a six-figure settlement" from the Enquirer, based in Boca Raton, Fla., and its parent company, American Media Inc.

The lawsuit, moreover, also seeks an apology and retraction for an article that appeared in different versions of the Enquirer's U.S. and international editions. No comment from the National Enquirer as yet.
