Chris Evans has signed on to play the lead in Iraq drama picture "Under the Blue Sky" with Mark Pellington at helm.

AceShowbiz - Just before the cameras rolling on him for "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond", Chris Evans turns out to have smoothly added another new acting stint into his hectic schedule for this year. The striking hunk revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he has been attached to an indie feature entitled "Under the Blue Sky" with "The Mothman Prophecies" helmer Mark Pellington to direct.

Expected to start filming September this year, the picture will be an Iraq drama and concerns on a man who comes home from the war. No other names listed in the cast yet for now, but Evans confirmed that he would play the guy.

In the meantime, the actor also gladly revealed what is the flick's story about, saying that the character he plays is on the brink of ending his duty in Iraq when he survives from a car bomb, but not his friends with whom he made an agreement before to tell their family each about their deaths in soothing way.

"He falls off track for about a year; hits the bottle a little bit," so he said as quoted by Entertainment Weekly. "But after a year he realizes he can't get his life back together until he makes good on his promise. [He] meets up with a young lady, they kind of fall in love, and they work their way across the country to each one of these houses to put his friends' parents' minds at ease."
