In the third album, Rihanna is taking a step higher in both her voice and the weight of her lyrics.

AceShowbiz - Rihanna is picking up her pace in the new album's release date and she is also taking a level higher in songs choice. "Umbrella", the first single from the album "Good Girl Gone Bad" was released on March 29 and featured the more serious and edgier version of Rihanna.

"'Umbrella' is a serious song, a relationship song. ... It's different, and that's what I love about it. People are not going to expect a song like that from me," Rihanna said upon the surprises that fans may get. "My sound has changed. It's a lot edgier than the rest of the stuff that anyone has heard from me before. I'm singing about different things, it's a lot sexier," she continued.

The C. Tricky Stewart-produced song also features rapper Jay-Z aka the President of Def Jam Records who is certainly proud of Rihanna's progress. "It shows such growth for her as an artist. If you listen to the lyrics to that song, you know the depth and how far she's come."

The 19 years old singer's album will hit the stores on June 5. Her label mate Ne-Yo lent his voice in a song while Justin Timberlake contributed one of the tracks. "In the past, Rihanna has made really great singles. This time, Rihanna has not only made really great singles, but a great album," Jay-Z said in a statement. "We want people to hear it now and experience it now."
