Winners Named for the 38th Annual NAACP Image Awards' Film Categories

"The Pursuit of Happyness" came out as the best picture with Oscar winners Forest Whitaker and Jennifer Hudson continuing their winning streak.

AceShowbiz - The awards season in film industry does still continues even though it has reached its peak on the Oscar ceremony last month as the American National Association for the Advancement of Colored People took its turn to unveil the recipients of its Image Awards on Friday, March 2 2007 at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium.

Recognizing best achievements in filmmaking, the organization eventually handed out the top honor of best picture to "The Pursuit of Happyness" while naming Forest Whitaker of "The Last King of Scotland" and Keke Palmer of "Akeelah and the Bee" the best actor and actress, respectively.

In the supporting acting categories, Jennifer Hudson and Djimon Hounsou delightfully popped out as the champions, the former being honored for her stunning performance in "Dreamgirls" while the latter for his in "Blood Diamond."

Others scoring at the event were "An Inconvenient Truth" as Best Independent or Foreign Film and Spike Lee who took the best director title for "Inside Man" with Doug Atchison taking home the best writing trophy through his work in "Akeelah."
