AceShowbiz - Continues to create headlines, Britney Spears shockingly shaved her head bald to shortly thereafter get herself tattooed on Friday evening, February 16, 2007.
The pop sensation was reported to visit Esther's Haircutting Studio in the Tarzana district of Los Angeles around 7 p.m. accompanied by two bodyguards and told the salon owner Esther Tognozzi she wanted to get her head shaved off. Assumed that she was maybe being "hormonal" while at the same time not wanting to be responsible for shaving her locks, Tognozzi then tried to suggest less drastic alternatives, but the singer did not budge even a little bit.
"She said 'No, I absolutely want it shaved off now.' Next thing I know, she grabbed the buzzer and she went to the back of my salon and she was shaving off her own hair," the woman revealed to CNN.
Telling that Spears confessed that she was tired of her hair extensions and wanted to make like Sinead O'Connor, Tognozzi also noted that the 25-year-old mother of two young sons didn't appear to be under the influence of anything and remained "emotionless" for the most part, "except for when she said, 'Oh my god, my mom's going to be so upset,' and she had tears in her eyes."
In the meantime, Tognozzi's husband J.T. Tognozzi who runs the salon with her, exclusively told E! News' Giuliana DePandi that the remains of Spears' hair were saved and may be sold for a good cause.
"She didn't want her hair," he said. We have it here at the salon and we will probably auction it off for charity."
Spears' journey then continued to a nearby tattoo parlor named Body and Soul in Sherman Oaks where she put two designs to her body, a black-white-and-pink cross on her lower hip and red-and-pink lips on her wrist. Emily Wynne Hughes, an artist at the parlor, remarked that the "Crossroad" star appeared "distraught and disturbed," and was difficult to work with, saying that she "was screaming and flipping out from the pain and wiggling her body all around."
No official word from Spears' camp concerning these recent antics of hers, but a source has told E! Online's Marc Malkin that her mother is distraught over the behavior, remarking that the family is "in major intervention mode."
