Kenny Chesney slams gay rumors in an interview to air Sunday Feb 18th on CBS' "60 Minutes."

AceShowbiz - Don't get confused for Kenny Chesney has set all the record straight. The country music recording artist turns down gay rumors which first sparked when her estranged wife Renee Zellweger cited "fraud" as the reason for annulling their brief 2005 marriage.

In an interview to air Sunday Feb 18th on CBS' "60 Minutes," Chesney said, "It's not true. Period. Maybe I should have come out and said, `No, I'm not (gay),' but I didn't want to draw any more attention to it. I didn't have to prove to anybody that I wasn't (gay). I didn't feel like I really did."

Chesney and Zellweger tied the knot May 9, 2005 on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. That was the first marriage for either party. Four months later, Zellweger filed the annulment papers, citing "fraud." Explaining on the use of the word "fraud", the actress claimed the term as "simply legal language and not a reflection of Kenny's character."

On the misinterpretation, Chesney explained, "We thought the least harmful (stated reason) was fraud because it (is) kind of broad ... doesn't specify. And boy ... we were wrong. The only fraud that was committed was me thinking that I knew what it was like ... that I really understood what it was like to be married, and I really didn't."
