Paramount Rebuilds

Paramount Pictures is boarding the film adaptation of Erik Larson's novel "The Devil in the White City", which previously was coveted by former partner Cruise/Wagner.

AceShowbiz - This time set to make it real, Paramount Pictures is about to develop "The Devil in the White City", a project previously coveted by producing partners Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner, Variety has learned.

An adaptation of Erik Larson's bestselling novel of the same title, the picture again comes to the surface following Paramount's reacquisition of the film rights to the book last month, thanks to the approach made by producers Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher, whose Double Feature Films has a new first-look deal with the studio.

The original version, published in 2003, presents events happening in the lives of two men, Daniel Burnham and H. H. Holmes, who were involved with 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. It is actually a work of non-fiction but is presented in a fictional style instead.
