Thriller drama "Spiral" was bestowed the Gold Vision Award alongside French film "Fissures."

AceShowbiz - Coming to the closing of the 22nd annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) yesterday, February 4 after holding it since January 25, the organizers at the event have revealed the list of titles deserved to be granted honors in completing the prizes they have given to some notable names in film industry.
Taking the same nod as French film "Fissures" did in snatching the Gold Vision Award was thriller drama "Spiral" which was recognized as "most innovative and unique film with an inspiring and groundbreaking vision." Elsewhere, the Audience Choice Award for Best Film went to Logan Smalle's "Darius Goes West", a documentary about a 15-year-old boy with muscular dystrophy named Darius Weems who embarked on a cross-country road trip.
Prize for Best International Feature was given to the Czech film "Beauty in Trouble" with Dan Klores' "Crazy Love" and Don Hertzfeldt's "Everything Will Be OK" being bestowed the Best Documentary award and the Bruce Corwin Award for Best Animation, respectively.
As for the names, SBIFF previously lined up names like Will Smith, Bill Condon, Forest Whitaker, and Helen Mirren in its tribute to honor their talents and efforts in film industry. Smith was granted the prestigious Modern Master Award for his career accomplishments on January 27 at the Arlington Theatre while Condon, the director of "Dreamgirls", was given Montecito Award on date 29 the same month.
Meanwhile, Whitaker successfully took home the Riviera Award on February 3 for his role in "The Last King of Scotland", eight days after Mirren was handed the Outstanding Performance Award for her fantastic performance in "The Queen."
