Newcomer "Stomp the Yard" ends the three-week reign of "Night at the Museum."

AceShowbiz - The spirit of Stepping is back, thanks to "Stomp the Yard", as the urban dance drama delightfully soars high in its debut to secure the top spot on the weekend box office ended January 14, 2007. Playing strongly among all demographics, the flick smoothly makes its way to gather up a satisfying number of $21.8 million, ending the three-week reign of "Night at the Museum" for the family-friendly comedy turns out to score below this time at $17.1 million.
Though forced to go one step down as the runner-up, "Museum" wonderfully still proves to be superior to its longtime rival "The Pursuit of Happyness" which fares far lower at $8.9 million in its fifth round on the chart. "Dreamgirls" and "Freedom Writers" come next to round out the big five, the former on the fourth rank holding $8.3 million while the latter on the fifth with $7.3 million.
Finishing on number six is newcomer "Alpha Dog" after it manages to collect a modest income of $6.4 million followed by gripping thriller "Children of Men" then two other new releases of "Primeval", and "Arthur and the Invisibles" with respective income of $6.3 million, $6.0 million, and $4.2 million. Making up the top ten of the list is Paramount's enjoyable family drama "Charlotte's Web" which is able to draw $3.7 million to raise its total sum to $72.1 million.
