"The Queen" topped the honorees with five prizes, notably that of Best Picture.

AceShowbiz - Once again, "The Queen" shines brightly atop the throne. Repeating the achievement it scored at NYFCO Awards held earlier this month, the British royal drama feature triumphantly swept most honors from The Toronto Film Critics Association as the organization handed on its TFCA Awards yesterday, December 19, 2006.

The Miramax release won five categories altogether for those of Best Picture, Best Performance - Female for Helen Mirren, Best Screenplay for Peter Morgan, Best Supporting Performance - Male for Michael Sheen, and Best Director for Stephen Frears, who shared the honor with "L'Enfant" helmers Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne.

"L'Enfant" itself was deemed the Best Foreign-Language Picture out of two other strong contenders "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Volver" in the slot. Other titles winning included "Thank You for Smoking" and "Happy Feet" which came out as Best First Feature and Best Animated Feature, respectively.

As Mirren's opposite, Sacha Baron Cohen gloriously took Best Performance - Male prize through his star turn in controversial mockumentary comedy "Borat" while Cate Blanchett, as opposite to Sheen, landed Best Supporting Performance - Female honor for her performance in "Notes on a Scandal."
