11th Annual Satellite Awards Recipients Announced

"The Departed" and "Dreamgirls" both scored most honors with four awards each.

Gathering together at Beverly Hills' Imperial Ballroom of le Meridian on Sunday, December 17, 2006, members of International Press Academy eagerly handed down the organization's honor of Satellite Awards, originally known as Golden Satellite Awards, to the year's outstanding artists, films, television shows, DVDs, and interactive media.

Martin Scorsese's mob saga "" led the event together with "" as both collected four prizes each. The Warner Bros. release scored in categories of Best Motion Picture - Drama, Best Screenplay - Adapted for William Monahan, Best Ensemble - Motion Picture, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for .

As for "", the flick successfully won those of Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for , Best Sound (Editing & Mixing), and Best Director for Bill Condon who tied with "" helmer in gaining the title.

Critics' favorites and both took down best dramatic acting honors, the former obviously for his role in "" while the latter for hers in "." Meanwhile, the best comedy acting awards went to of "" and Joseph Cross of "."

For the television program slot, FOX's "House and ABC's "Ugly Betty" were wonderfully named Best Television Series - Drama and Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy, respectively.
