"Borat" takes down the top slot of weekend box office ended November 5, 2006 after debuting high with $26.4 million in only 837 theaters.

AceShowbiz - The hype surrounding "Borat" has played its role effectively to the benefit of the flick for sure. Thanks to it, the mockumentary comedy could really strive high to score big at $26.4 million and so, proclaims itself the top holder of the weekend box office for November 3-5, 2006.
Opened in only 837 theaters, the flick averaged a whopping $31,511 per theater, outdistancing runner-up "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause" which averaged $5,784 in 3,458 cinemas to make up a $19.5 million booty in its debut on the chart. Trailing close behind is DreamWorks' animated picture "Flushed Away" following its decent effort to gain $18.8 million in 3,707 outlets.
On the fourth and fifth spot seat last-week's best two, "Saw III" and "The Departed" respectively, the former collecting $14.8 million to raise its ten-day total to $59.3 million while the latter smoothly adding up another $7.7 million into its pocket. Christopher Nolan's magician tale "The Prestige" comes next on number six after drawing in a fair income of $7.5 million.
Rounding out in order to make up the top ten movies of the list are DreamWorks' war saga "Flags of Our Fathers" with $4.4 million, Universal Pictures' "Man of the Year" with $3.6 million, Sony Pictures Animation's "Open Season" with $2.96 million, and Stephen Frears' acclaimed drama "The Queen" with $2.9 million.
