Van Halen and The Ronettes were among nine nominees announced Monday for 2007 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

AceShowbiz - Nine nominees for the 2007 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced Monday Oct 30th. Officials for the hall of fame announced the nominations of Van Halen, R.E.M., The Ronettes, The Stooges, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Patti Smith, The Dave Clark Five, CHIC, and Joe Tex.

Those nine nominees will be sent to more than 500 voters, with the five inductees announced in January next year. They will be inducted at a March ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria in New York with all five inductees will be represented in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, OH.

To be eligible for nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This year's nominees had to release their first single no later than 1981.
