Sacha Baron Cohen Making Advances to
Movie

Sacha Baron Cohen is in talks to join Johnny Depp in "Sweeney Todd."

AceShowbiz - Fresh from his appearance in "Borat", Sacha Baron Cohen is heading to his next acting stint. The British actor is currently engaged in negotiations to star in "Sweeney Todd", an adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's musical stage production composed based on Christopher Bond's 1973 play of the same title.

If a deal is reached, Cohen will likely be billed as Signor Adolfo Pirelli, the strong competitor of the title character, played by Johnny Depp, in the haircutting world. The story itself concerns Todd who seeks out revenge on the judge who has wrongfully imprisoned him.

Filming is set to start by early February at London's Pinewood Studios with Tim Burton at helm while pre-recordings will begin in November and December. Film's script has been entrusted to John Logan who also sets to produce alongside Sam Mendes, Richard D. Zanuck, and Laurie MacDonald.

Also a producer and screenwriter, Cohen started his acting career on screen in mid-'90s and reached wide popularity through his comedy character Ali G. For his upcoming projects, he has already been attached to star in "Curly Oxide and Vic Thrill" plus "Dinner for Schmucks" while once again voicing Julien, the king of lemur tribe, in "Madagascar 2."
