Universal Secures
Movie

Universal Pictures has obtained rights to make a big screen version of Peter Morgan's play "Frost/Nixon."

AceShowbiz - Finally reaching its goal, Universal Pictures has successfully won a deal over the weekend for rights to make "Frost/Nixon", a film adaptation of Peter Morgan's play of the same title, Variety has reported.

In developing the project, the company has appointed renowned filmmaker Ron Howard to direct with Morgan himself adapting the screenplay. Looking on this, it is very likely that the movie version will stay true to the original which centers on the famed 1977 television interviews between David Frost and former president Richard Nixon.

Howard has been eyeing to turn the play into big screen after seeing the show at West End's Donmar Warehouse last week, even being said to have helped securing the deal during his London stay.

While cast line-up still remains a question, it has been revealed that Universal will jointly produce the movie with Working Title and Imagine Entertainment. Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan will produce for Working Title while Brian Grazer for Imagine.
