Walt Disney Pictures has put high priority in developing "Jungle Cruise" which is inspired from Disney's theme park ride of the same name.

AceShowbiz - Riding high on the huge success of its "Pirates of the Caribbean" series, Walt Disney Pictures apparently can't wait long to turn another attraction at Disneyland into a potential adventure film franchise. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the company is putting a high priority to develop "Jungle Cruise" which is originally a theme park ride on a riverboat that features a journey through various jungles around the world.

While plot details are kept secrets, it has been reported that the project will be set in the 20th century and produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. So far, there are no words yet about cast and film crew, but "Smallville" creators Al Gough and Miles Millar have already been contacted to talk on the possibility of penning the script.

One of the twenty-two attractions operating at Disneyland on its opening day in July 1955, "Jungle Cruise" can be found in every Disney theme park except Disneyland Paris. The one in Anaheim, California presents a version that includes a piranha attack scene as well as some explosive effects in a scene where gorillas are ransacking a camp and throwing dynamite into the river.
