"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" has returned to the top position of the international box office.

AceShowbiz - Long live the Pirates. After stumbling to number two last week, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" wonderfully strikes back so soundly that it finally has its way to return to the top spot on the international box office on Sunday, September 17, 2006.

Thanks to a record-setting opening in Italy of $12.8 million, the adventurous flick has successfully garnered an estimated weekend haul of $16.5 million from 42 territories, pushing Disney/Pixar's "Cars" back to number two as the animated picture turns out to score $6.6 million from 27 markets.

Big surprise comes from the third-ranked hold over on the list for it is the Wayans brothers' comedy of "Little Man" that finally comes through to take the spot after satisfyingly collect $5.4 million from 23 territories to a total sum of $21.9 million overseas.

Trailing behind is Michael Mann's "Miami Vice" which drops one place to the fourth place with an estimated $3.8 million from 48 markets followed by Sony's "Monster House" at number five with $3.1 million it has gained from 48 territories to add up its overseas total to $47.9 million.
