Magnolia Pictures has obtained the U.S distribution rights to Johnny To's latest film work of "Exiled."

AceShowbiz - This time it's Asian's turn to see the light in the States. Magnolia Pictures has been reported to have successfully optioned the rights to action thriller "Exiled" from Hong Kong filmmaker Johnny To and Media Asia Entertainment Group with an eye to release it in U.S theaters by the next year.

Recently screened at this year's Venice International Film Festival, pic is a noisy, high body-count gangster feature set in the gambling haven of Macau before the former Portuguese colony's handover to Chinese rule. The story tells about a professional hit-man sent to eliminate a renegade gang member named Wo who is attempting to start a new life with his wife and baby.

Often produces his own directorial works, To has made more than 40 film features in his career that spans more than two decades. His credits include "The Mission", "Fulltime Killer", "Executioners", and "Running on Karma."
