Paul Bettany Joins Brendan Fraser in
Movie

Paul Bettany follows the trail of Brendan Fraser to star in "Inkheart."

AceShowbiz - "Inkheart" cast really is compiled fast. Just a day after the announcement of Brendan Fraser taking role in the project, Paul Bettany has been confirmed to be included in the list to star opposite the "Crash" actor. Unlike Fraser whose role in the film has been fixed, Bettany is still engaged in talks to play a fire-eating performer named Dustfinger.

Developed under New Line Cinema, the movie will be made based on the Cornelia Funke's fantasy novel which takes a look on the journey of a girl as she tries to save her kidnapped father who has an ability to bring characters from books to life. Iain Softley is attached to direct with playwright David Lindsay-Abaire adapting the screenplay. Funke herself is seating as the producer alongside Ileen Maisel.

"Inkheart", which spent 19 weeks on the New York Times Children's Chapter bestseller list, was actually written as the first part of a trilogy. The second one, "Inkspell", was published last fall while the third, titled "Inkdawn", is expected to come out next year.

As for Bettany, the actor is last seen portraying the albino monk, Silas, in "The Da Vinci Code" after previously sharing the screen with Harrison Ford in Richard Loncraine's "Firewall." He next is slated to appear on dramatic feature of "There for Me" alongside Charlie Condou.
