Another novel-based movie is on set, involving "40 Days and 40 Nights" actor, Josh Hartnett.

AceShowbiz - New Zealand is going to be the next-screenplay location, this time, depicting the gloomy dark town in Alaska, Barrow, in a new screenplay by Columbia Pictures, "30 Days of Night".
This new project is scheduled to start shooting in early August 2006, having Stuart Beattie and Brian Nelson write the script and David Slade in hand directing. "40 Days and 40 Nights" actor, Josh Hartnett is taking the role as the town's Sheriff, one of the only hopes for Barrow's inhabitants to get out from the inferno. Hartnett is still involved in the up-coming "Resurrecting the Champ" and planned to perform in "The Black Dahlia" after his last performance in "Lucky Number Slevin".
The movie itself is, again, another novel-based, adapted from an IDW-published graphic novel by Steve Niles, with the touch of Ben Templesmith in the illustration. There are also collaborations from Grant Curtis (Sony-based production company), Sam Raimi and the producer-writer and actor, Rob Tapert (who created the famous, sensational TV series: "Xena: Warrior Princess"), from Ghost House Pictures'. The executive producers go to Mike Richardson, Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane.
Mandate Pictures will also take part in this new project, as they are supervising the international rights, leaving Shannon Gaulding and Adam Milano (Sony) supervise the film's distribution in North America and several international areas.
