AceShowbiz - Black Eyed Peas has a very deep concern about their society and approvingly brings it into life when they on Friday May 26th, 2006 in Johannesburg announced that they would be working to aid disadvantaged South Africans through their charity, the Peapod Foundation.
The music group is planning to spend Friday and Saturday visiting poverty-stricken townships outside Johannesburg, participating in workshops with children and meeting fans. And the next day, Sunday, the will play a benefit concert in the city.
Speaking on what he and his fellow band members about to do, will.i.am said that witnessing extreme deprivation in the country "...hurt me, that hit a nerve in my heart. That's when I said we need to come back to South Africa and do a show for the people who can't afford tickets."
Subsequent to those, Black Eyed Peas will next on May 28th perform for more than 30,000 in South Africa's largest city. Tickets are free because "If I inspire one child out there, I have done something," said band member Fergie.
