Williams has smashed a world record by selling more than 1.6 million tickets for his new tour - in just one day

AceShowbiz - British pop star Robbie Williams scores another attainment in world music industry. The singer has entered the Guinness Book of World Records by selling more than 1.6 million tickets for his new tour in just one day.

Tickets for "Williams' 2006 World Tour," which closes at the new Wembley Stadium in September, went on sale last Saturday. Tour agent even has to add two more dates to meet fans demand, which by 2.30 pm all five nights had sold out.

Guinness Book of World Records editor confirmed this news, adding that Robbie Williams snatched the record from Justin Timberlake and his former group, NSYNC. They sold 1million tickets, valued at �23.4million, for their No Strings Attached US tour. As that of Williams his new record-breaking figure of 1.6 million tickets are valued at an estimated 80 million pounds.
